Natural Stone for Floors, Fireplaces and Accent Walls
Natural stone has a weight and character that man-made materials can’t quite copy, and every piece is a little different. At Floor & More in Centennial we install stone floors, stacked stone fireplaces and accent walls, and stone tile in bathrooms and entryways. We’ll help you choose a stone that fits the room and how you live, and explain the sealing and care it needs before you commit.
Limestone
Limestone has soft white, cream and gray tones and a quiet, matte look that works in both traditional and modern homes. It’s on the softer, more porous side, so it needs to be sealed and is best in rooms that don’t see heavy grit or spills.
Travertine
Travertine has warm beige and walnut tones and a pitted, natural texture that’s usually filled and honed or tumbled for a classic old-world look. It’s popular for bathroom floors, shower walls and entryways, and it needs sealing like other natural stone.
Granite and Marble
Granite is one of the hardest stones you can put on a floor and handles busy kitchens and entries well. Marble has a polished, elegant look for bathrooms, foyers and fireplace surrounds, but it’s softer and can etch from acidic spills, so it takes a little more care.
Stacked Stone
Stacked stone panels turn a plain fireplace or wall into the focal point of a room. They come in ledgestone and split-face styles in grays, tans and charcoal, and they need a solid backing and the right mortar to stay put, especially on a fireplace that gets warm.
